About our AKC Miniature Dachshund puppies:

Our puppies are born and raised in our home and are very well socialized by the time they go to their new families between 8 & 12 weeks of age. We have grandkids that live close by who are always eager to hug, love and play with our doxie youngsters.
About our Dachshunds:

There are no aggressive, grumpy Dachshunds at Nuforest. All are friendly, socialized, and enjoy people. Our mamma’s are very pleased to show off their babies. Strangers can reach into any of our whelping boxes and not fear getting even a growl from the dam.
Most of our adult Dachshunds do live outdoors in large, clean, well maintained kennel runs. After all, we are the largest most active Dachshund Show Kennel in the USA .... but don’t think these doxies are neglected or unloved! As you walk through the kennel you will see that all come eagerly up to the gates with tails wagging and "smiles" on their faces. Ask anyone who owns a NUFOREST DACHSHUND about the intelligence and delightful personality of their dog!!

We are Bill and Susan Buck. We are retired, Bill from the San Diego Fire Department and I, Susan, from owning and managing a large boarding kennel. Now we can devote all of our time to our Dachshunds
We have been breeding and showing since 1974 and have bred and/or owned over 40 champion Dachshunds down through the years ... so we have lots of experience and knowledge! We are very lucky that we are able to keep something from each of our breedings so we know how we are doing as we strive to improve our breed with each new generation
We are members of the Dachshund Club of America, National Miniature Dachshund Club, The San Diego Dachshund Club, Mt. Palomar Kennel Club, and the Obedience Club of San Diego. We are also members of Malibu Yacht Club and have sailed many, many blue water nautical miles ... See some of our sail boats. Did you know that Miniature Dachshunds make wonderful "boat" dogs? They are also great companions in motor homes and RV’s since they are easily litter boxed trained
Our Dachshunds are entered in well over 100 AKC events each year. We show our own dogs and also have professional dog show handlers exhibit our mini doxies at the shows we cannot attend
We study canine genetics, and attend lectures and seminars to continue our education. We have done test breedings to prove or disprove theories. We have done "color" breedings and have a proven working knowledge of colors and patterns. We have presented programs at club meetings and events to share our knowledge about genetics, breeding, whelping, training, etc
I write the monthly newsletters for the San Diego Dachshund Club and Mt. Palomar Kennel Club. My articles have appeared in dog publications across the country. If you would like a complementary copy please click here and send your US Postal Mailing address to us.
We are the kennel that other breeders come to when they want to improve their own breeding programs. We enjoy helping folks who are new to dog shows, breeding, or are pet owners who need some help working through a problem. We are very easy to talk to, so if you have questions, please ask!

Welcome to Nuforest Dachshunds
We breed and show quality AKC mini Dachshunds in all three coat varieties:
Miniature Longhaired Dachshunds
Miniature Smooth Dachshunds
Miniature Wirehaired Dachshunds

All our Dachshunds are AKC Registered.
We plan each miniature Dachshund litter with the thought of keeping a youngster to show or breed.
Each breeding is planned well in advance with the idea of improving the miniature Dachshund with each generation.
Our miniature Dachshund puppies are born and raised on our home.
Dew claws are removed at 3 days of age.
Our Dachshund puppies are wormed at 21 days, 31 days, and 41 days of age.
Combination vaccinations are started at 8 weeks of age.
The shot recored that goes with each puppy shows what shots and wormings the puppy has had and what it will need during the first 6 months.
We don't let our miniature Dachshund puppies go to their new homes until they are 8 weeks old if picked up here or if we deliver. We won't ship a puppy until it is 12 weeks of age.
Each miniature Doxie has an injected microchip for permanent identification. We have been doing this since the technology was first available in the 1980s.
We participate in the AKC's DNA testing programs.
Pet/companion puppies are sold with Limited AKC Registration. Our prices for a quality, healthy, well bred and well socialized pet start at $800.
A miniature Dachshund purchased to breed or to show will go with Full AKC Registration. Prices start at $800. Miniature Dachshunds that have a champion sire and/or dam start at $1000. Puppies with both a champion sire and a champion dam are $1500. Show prospects that are older or that have AKC Championship points will be priced accordingly.
"Rescues" are usually $250 and will be spayed or neutered. They will be up to date with their vaccinations before they go to their new families.
Our written contract clearly show our guarantees, remedies, and also what we expect of our puppy buyers.
Each Dachshund goes home with a 5 or 6 generation pedigree that shows Champions, AKC numbers, colors/pattern.
Each mini Dachshund puppy goes home with a 60 day veterinary insurance policy issued by DVM VPI. This insurance will help the new owners pay the bills if their puppy is injured in an accident or becomes ill. We ask that you continue to protect your pet with Veterinary Pet Insurance for it's lifetime.
We include a small supply of NuVet vitamins with each "go-home" package and ask that the Dachshund be kept on the supplement for it's lifetime.
Our miniature Dachshund puppies are fed a top quality puppy food. We include a small bag in the "go-home" package. Again, we ask that the Dachshund be fed quality food throughout their lives.
We have some lovely stud dogs available t approved bitches. We have frozen semen stored at the Canine Cryobank and are able to ship fresh or frozen semen worldwide.
We are glad to refer folks to other reputable/ethical breeders and rescue organizations who also have Dachshunds available in all areas of the country.
We enjoy helping others who love Dachshunds get started in dog shows, improve brood stock or who may have issues with their own Dachshunds.

Our Guarantee

Our contract shows our guarantees. Yes, there are several health & temperament guarantees when you purchase a miniature Dachshund from NUFOREST.
You have 14 days after you get the Dachshund puppy to take it to your vet to be certain all is fine. If there is a problem, or if you simply don't like the puppy, you may return it to us and your purchase price will be refunded or we'll replace the pup with another (your decision as to which option you accept).
If there is any health defect discovered during the first year we will replace the Dachshund with another.
If the Dachshund is ever paralyzed by IVDD (back) during it's entire life we will refund your purchase price.
We do ask that the buyer use NUFOREST in the registered name, that the buyer use NUVET Vitamins throughout the Dachshund's life, that it be fed a quality food (no store-brand/white label) and that the owner purchase Pet Insurance from DVM/VPI.
If a Nuforest Dachshund is to be shown, we will refund $500 when it finishes it's AKC Championship. The buyer must also agree that if anytime they cannot keep the Dachshund that it will be returned to NUFOREST.
